When to Investigate
Refer for investigation:
• Couple unable to conceive after 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse.
• Earlier (after 6 months) if: woman ≥35y, known cause of infertility (e.g. amenorrhoea, hypogonadism, endometriosis, prior surgery), partner with risk factor (chemotherapy, surgery, varicocele).
• Female: male ratio of cause ~30:30:30 (female / male / both or unexplained).
