Assessment & Common Conditions
Assessment:
• Detailed history
• Examination with good lighting
• Biopsy if: uncertain diagnosis, suspicious lesions, treatment failure
Red Flags:
• Suspicious lesions
• Ulceration not healing
• Pigmented lesions
• Masses
• Bleeding
Common conditions:
• Lichen sclerosus: Itching, white plaques, scarring, architectural change
• Lichen planus: Pain, erosions, violaceous lesions
• Vulvodynia: Burning pain, no visible abnormality
• Contact dermatitis: Itching, erythema, history of irritants/allergens
• Infections: Candida, HSV, HPV, other STIs
